Growing: It does well in full sun and typically grows in rocky soils near water. In Washington and Oregon, it grows near the coast. Start seeds spring or fall.
Medicinal Uses: Internally, the flowers are used as a tincture for upper respiratory issues. Topically they are used in a salve to treat a host of different skin conditions.
Permaculture Uses: Since it's in the Aster family, it's great for attracting beneficial insects. It’s also a great choice for an herbaceous perennial in a rock garden.
