Mahoina nervosa / Berberis nervosa

I wild harvest Oregon grape in large stands in western Washington. I harvest the lateral recumbent stems, cut off the crown and replant. I then wash the outer bark, chop and dry.

Oregon grape, is a fantastic herb known for its bitter compounds to improve sluggish digestion, as well as its antimicrobial, and antifungal effects. Also used as a natural dye.
