Sow seeds in the spring, scarifying helps germination. Barely cover seeds and tamp down firmly into soil and keep well watered. Germination in 1-2 weeks. Transplant in to pots and then the garden once robust. Plants prefer moist rich soils. Harvest roots after the second year of growth. Cut the side root and re plant the crowns.
Bothe the leaves/flowers and roots are high in mucilage that helps soothe inflamed tissues, great for the skin, digestive tract and sore throats.
