Blue Elder Flower Tincture, Wild Harvested
Blue Elder Flower Tincture, Wild Harvested
Fresh Wild harvested Sambucus caerulea flowers, 60% grain alcohol and distilled water.
I personally wild harvest these Blue Elder flowers in the canyons of Eastern Washington, far ways from roads. I only take a portion of open flowers from each tree, leaving plenty for the pollinators and others who depend on them. I harvest in the spring at full bloom. I macerate the fresh flowers in 45% alcohol and 25% distilled water for 6 weeks. I strain then bottle and store in a cool dark cupboard.
Blue Elder Flowers have many traditional uses and are known for their anti-viral properties and use in fevers.
