Sow seeds in early spring while soils are cool. Surface sow, tamp down firmly and keep moist. Direct sow or start in pots or flats to transplant out. Plants can take a wide range of soil types, in sun or partial shade.

Medicinally plantain has many uses because of its antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, wound healing, immuno-tonic and soothing properties.
