Plants are the first responders of plant succession, and prefer disturbed soils, sand, gravel anything really. The seeds are light dependent germinators, either start in flats or pots to transplant out or direct sow. Do not cover and keep well watered, germination begins quickly. Flowers the second year.

Mullein has many uses, including leaves for respiratory ailments, flowers of ear oil and the whole plant for back and spinal issues.
