Dried Devils Club, Oplopanax horridus, Wild harvested
I wild harvest Devils Club, each spring and fall in the foothills of the cascades, far from roads and industries. I rotate my harvest location year from year, and only harvest from very large stands. I propagate while harvesting, and often harvest from stands that will be logged, to salvage this potent medicine. I wash the recumbent stems, remove the outer bark and any spines. Peal the inner bark and dry the same day. Then garble down to a smaller usable size for medicine making.
